Purpose
Analyzing the impact Covid-19 had on American Airlines.
Study Design/Methodology/Approach
Understand how the impact of this pandemic affected this industry, this study analyzed a 5-year sample of 10% of all flights/routes specifically for American Airlines, using attributes such as fare value, new covid cases, and destination city population as variables for a panel regression model to obtain the effect of covid on this airline over this period.
Findings
Our analysis yielded insights into the relationship between the variable price and the tickets sold, which in this case was a positive relationship. This wasn't exactly what our group was expecting when starting this study, but with all the recommendations provided, we still believe that this is a positive contribution to our analysis.
Practical Implications
This can be extremely helpful to American Airlines because the effect of a global pandemic could be captured and if this happens again in the close or near future, they will already know how to anticipate their strategy to not affect their business in a drastic way that this pandemic impact.
