Master of Science in Business Analytics

Welcome to the Master of Science in Business Analytics program at Cal Poly Pomona!

Today’s business world is being transformed by digital technologies characterized by the proliferation of constantly connected mobile devices and apps, the widespread usage of social media, the virtualization of computing resources in the cloud, and the applications of emerging IT accelerators such as IoT, Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, and so on. The digital transformation is sweeping the industries by producing and using a huge volume of digital data, creating an urgent need for the optimization of the data value through analytics. The MS in Business Analytics program is designed to satisfy the contemporary needs in all business fields for data science technology and applications.

Graduates from this program will demonstrate in-depth knowledge in database, statistics, optimization, and decision theories, and be equipped with skills in Python/R, data warehousing, data mining, text mining and web analytics, big data analytics, and predictive/prescriptive modeling focusing on business applications. The program will focus on the implication of business analytics on various business functional areas such as marketing, supply chain management, finance, information systems, and prepare students with competencies to lead data-driven changes.

The 24-hour technology build-a-thon event, Hackpoly, drew almost 500 college students to the Cal Poly Pomona. Competitors had the option to log on to a dedicated Hackpoly wireless network or plug in via LAN. The network routed nearly 1.5 terabytes.
